ITALY: Highlights of the Eternal City

These pictures need little introduction as words will never express my love for Italy, if you haven’t been you must see for yourself.

Today’s subject is the awe-inspiring city of Rome. These are the places I found to be the most impressive. The Circus Maximus and the Colosseum are not on my list, they are indeed impressive but don’t make for particularly exciting photos.

Who would believe that this detailed fresco in the Vatican is actually a mosaic?

The understated elegance of Salvatore Ferragamo will do nicely for me

It’s worth dodging all the tourists to get to the Spanish Steps

Michaelangelo’s Pieta: the saddest face in the world. This just one of the breathtaking features of St. Peter’s Basilica, I’ve seen only half of them

The locals love their gelati

Perfect Symmetry in the Vatican Gardens

Baroque. Beautiful, Bustling. Throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain to ensure another journey to Rome. Proceeds go to the underprivileged of Rome so make a wish for family and friends.

Exquisite pastries, chocolates and candies at Antica Caffe Greco, Via dei Condotti’s 250 year old institution devoted to the sweet toothed travellers. It’s Rome’s oldest bar

Perfectly preserved marble at the Roman Forum

One day isn’t enough to see the Roman Forum, I will have to return for a second round

Some Roman chic with a lot of foliage – best to check with the Vatican Museum for a more details
